Biography

Koltin Hevalow was raised in rodeo, so there was never much mystery about where he was headed. The Smithville, Missouri, native first climbed on a sheep as a kid and began riding under the guidance of his father at just 3 years old. From there, he worked his way through youth rodeo, becoming the 2017 National Junior High School World Champion bull rider and the 2018 Missouri High School Rodeo Champion and Rookie of the Year before earning a full scholarship to Odessa College.

Hevalow wasted little time making an impression professionally. In February 2022, he won his PBR debut on the Velocity Tour in Youngstown, Ohio, going a perfect 3-for-3. He later joined the Arizona Ridge Riders before landing with his home-state Kansas City Outlaws during the inaugural PBR Teams season, where he began developing into one of the organization’s most dependable young riders.

That development showed in a major way in 2024. Hevalow won his first Unleash The Beast event in Salt Lake City, qualified for his second PBR World Finals and finished the individual season No. 10 in the world. He followed it with the best Teams season of his career, going 16-for-29 as Kansas City surged to a league-best 19-9 record and the 2024 regular-season championship.

Hevalow stayed perfect during the postseason, delivering qualified rides in all three of his outs as the Outlaws finished third at the PBR Teams Championship. His career-best 90.75-point ride on Ridin’ Salty in Nashville that same season added another milestone to a breakout year that established him as much more than a young prospect.

Away from competition, Hevalow brings plenty of personality. Before a bull leaves the chute, the final word running through his mind is simple: “spur.” He can do the splits, refuses to lay his cowboy hat on a bed and once stood silently onstage during an elementary school concert when he was supposed to be singing.

His dream vacation is Africa, and if bull riding had not become his full-time career, he says he would want to become an MMA fighter. He trains five or more times a week, closely follows UFC, enjoys hunting, fishing, boating and skiing, and keeps everything from rock and rap to pop and country in his playlist. He also has a soft spot for The Andy Griffith Show, Lonesome Dove and Chick-fil-A.

Hevalow looks up to his father most, a fitting answer for someone whose entire bull riding foundation began at home. He also has his favorite bull at home, 1809 Undraftable, and remains closely tied to the livestock and Western lifestyle that shaped him.

Now, Hevalow is entering another chapter as a new father to his baby boy, Haize. For a cowboy who grew up learning from his own dad and has spent nearly his entire life around rodeo, passing that same foundation to the next generation may be his biggest adventure yet.

And now there is another Hevalow on the PBR Teams tour, with his brother joining the Nashville locker room — double Hevalow trouble, or triple if you count the newborn.
