Josh Frost was practically born into bull riding. A third-generation cowboy and cousin of legendary bull rider Lane Frost, the Randlett, Utah, native grew up learning the sport alongside his brother, Joe, from their father, Shane, and grandfather, Joe, who both competed in the PRCA.

Frost took that upbringing to Oklahoma Panhandle State University, where he studied agricultural education, before beginning his professional rodeo career in 2015 and making his PBR debut the following year. He quickly showed a knack for rising to the occasion, and that trait has followed him throughout his career.

In 2022, Frost qualified for his first PBR World Finals and announced himself on the sport’s biggest stage with a career-high 92.75-point ride on eventual two-time YETI PBR World Champion Bull Ridin’ Solo. He finished ninth at his first World Finals, then returned in 2023 after winning the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Championship. Once again, Frost saved some of his best work for Fort Worth, winning consecutive rounds with a 90.5-point ride on DirtyBru and a gritty 74-point effort on Renegade to finish a career-best seventh.

His Teams career began when the Carolina Cowboys selected him in the first round of the 2023 PBR Teams Draft. A year later, Frost became one of the foundational pieces of the expansion Oklahoma Wildcatters after they selected him with the No. 2 pick in the 2024 Expansion Draft. After two seasons in Oklahoma, his Teams journey continued in 2026 with the Texas Rattlers.

Away from the arena, Frost is every bit as cowboy as his résumé suggests. He grew up ranching and farming, enjoys hunting, weightlifting, tie-down roping and steer wrestling, and says his father, Shane, is the person he looks up to most. He and his wife are parents to one child, and home comes with no shortage of animals — pigs, horses, dogs, cats, cows, ducks and geese.

When he isn’t riding bulls, Frost can usually be found following wrestling, PBR, pro rodeo, the NFL or UFC. He’s a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, prefers BBQ or Chick-fil-A when it’s time to eat and keeps a playlist spanning country, rock, pop and rap, with Lainey Wilson and That Mexican OT among his favorites.

For Frost, though, bull riding has never been just a job. It is the family business, passed down through generations and forever connected to the Frost name. Now riding for the Texas Rattlers, he continues chasing the championships that have motivated him since he first climbed aboard a bull.
